Pheasant Mentoring was established in response to the lack of support for autistic and neurodiverse adults once they leave formal education.Employment statistics for disabled people are woefully low. The ONS (2021) found that only 21% of autistic adults were in employment during 2020, compared with 81% of non-disabled people, and 52% of all disabled people. These figures demonstrate that organisations still have yet to realise the value of contributions from the autistic and other neurominority communities. We at Pheasant Mentoring believe that diversifying the talent pool to encourage more neurominorities into work, will have long-lasting positive effects on organisations, society, and the people themselves.

To design genuinely inclusive and equitable practices, you have to listen to those who will benefit from it.An investment in your disabled workforce will pay dividends through improved efficiency, esteem, and work satisfaction. You will benefit from minimised recruitment costs by retaining your current workforce, and enhancing your reputation as a disability-friendly employer.By demonstrating your commitment to staff with disabilities, you attract the brightest and best staff to your organisation, strengthening your position in the market.
